The findings show an all-time increase in demand for African developers globally and over 2.5x growth in VC funding, all of which happened despite the challenge that came with the pandemic.
The report also highlighted the role of Nigeria in this growth, evidenced by how Nigeria’s developer ecosystem alone added about 5,000 new professional developers to its pool in 2021.

Odinachi David is one of those Africa developers , who shared is story with me.

Hey, I'm Odinachi David a mobile engineer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

How did you join the tech world & what has been your experience so far?

I’ve always been passionate about computers generally but didn’t have the opportunity to go into tech fully until COVID-19 served me that on a platter, so yeah it started during the pandemic. And as for my experience so far I wished I started when I was 5.

The toughest challenge you’ve had to face recently in Tech?

Getting job is quit difficult.

How has that changed your opinion or your view point?

I didn’t say my opinion in anyway because I still believe tech will help solve majority of human problems.

What’s your speciality in the tech world?

Mobile Engineering

What do you 💕 doing outside Tech but can't venture into?

Before Tech I used to be a fashion designer so it's natural for me to want to come back to where I came from.

What 1 thing should anyone entering or who wants to enter the Tech world do or must be consistent at ?

Being open to the idea of learning, un-learning and relearning .
